Turtles aquarium
This is one of the most important things you need in your turtles aquarium. Without a basking spot, your red eared slider can develop shell rot, shell fungus, respiratory infections, and plenty more. Basking areas give the red eared slider time to dry off and get some sun. It is also important to have a basking light for this area. A heat light (full spectrum) and a UVB light will promote proper shell growth and eliminate common infections such as the ones I have mentioned.
You can create basking areas by using a log, pet store basking area, rubber maid container, plexi glass, gravel and other inventions. Make sure your red eared slider can be come completely dry on the basking area (including the Plastron). This will assure no shell rot on the plastron.
