Turn off Backlight — The most resource intensive mechanism in the iPod (except the shuffle for obvious reasons; and the hardrive in the 30GB and 60GB iPod is probably a different case) is the backlight so turning it off or even minimizing the amount of time it stays lit to two or five seconds can increase your iPod’s battery life. The Dalai Lama arrived in Vancouver Thursday for a three-day visit to promote a new peace and education centre in the city — a facility that will be named after him.
Tibet’s 71-year-old exiled spiritual leader, who is known for having a sense of humour, spoke to reporters about the Canadian government’s decision earlier this year to grant him honorary citizenship.
The Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his struggle for Tibetan autonomy from China and his pursuit of peace. He fled Tibet in 1958, when China annexed it.
Steve Jobs announced at the WWDC keynote today that Apple is switching to Intel processors. For years, rumors of Apple’s wish to jump to Intel have been circulating. But two weeks ago, analysts were skeptical when The Wall Street Journal reported that Intel and Apple were in negotiations.
